Construction Progress

The hospice build at 38 Agnes Street, Rockhampton is nearing completion! An enormous thank you to Tony Madden Architects, Paynters, and the many consultants and subcontractors who have worked tirelessly to bring the build in on time and on budget. With further finishing and commissioning tasks scheduled for the early part of next year, the goal remains to open the hospice in the first half of 2024.

Founding Partner Spotlight: Southern Cross Austereo

We’d like to take a moment to say a special thank you to our Keystone Founding Partner Southern Cross Austereo CQ. From the very beginning of our project, SCA have gone above and beyond to support Fitzroy Community Hospice, sharing our story across the airwaves of Triple M and Hit FM. On top of that, the SCA team is always one of the first in line to buy tickets to support our fundraising events, such as our Golf Day and recent Sports Luncheon.

SCA’s active support has played a crucial role in helping us spread awareness of the need for a hospice in Central Queensland. They have helped enormously in getting us to where we are today and we want to say a huge THANK YOU to SCA!Keystone Founding Partner Recognition - Southern Cross Austereo

Ways you can support us in December

We continue to work hard to attract as much support for Fitzroy Community Hospice as possible. We consider ourselves very fortunate to be chosen as the benefiting charity by two popular local entities in December – Mayor’s Carols By Candlelight and Central Queensland Containers for Change!

Fitzroy Community Hospice is the nominated charity of this year’s Mayor’s Carols by Candelight! Thank you to Rockhampton Regional Council for this wonderful opportunity to be part of a much loved local event.

Kicking Goals at our Sports Luncheon

Our first ever Sports Luncheon held on Friday 27 October raised just shy of $30,000, and we couldn’t be more thrilled! Thank you to all our supporters who purchased a ticket, bought a square on the money board, bid on an auction item, and donated on the day – your support is making a significant positive impact within the community as we get closer to opening CQ’s first hospice.

Thank you to our Pioneer Founding Partner, Frenchville Sports Club for helping us put on such a fabulous event for over 160 guests, and thank you to Todd Brandon for whipping the room into a bidding frenzy during the auction – it was short, sweet and successful!

Last but certainly not least, a HUGE thank you to Justen Parle from the Capras and our panel of CQ born footy legends Steve Walters, Jason Hetherington and PJ Marsh for entertaining us with yarns that were equal parts riveting and funny, and for just being genuinely good humans.

We’re looking forward to hosting a similar type of event in 2024 and as a newsletter subscriber, you’ll be one of the first to know so stay tuned!
