Establishment Progress
Thanks to the overwhelming generosity of the community, we are arranging orders for final equipment to have 11 patient rooms ready as soon as possible (instead of the 9 nine rooms we were originally planning to open with). This is an unexpected and wonderful position to be in, and we are reminded everyday of the generosity of our Central Queensland community.
Our recruitment process has been very successful with an overwhelming number of applicants for various positions. We will be finalising these roles in the coming weeks.
Our next major event is our Formal Facility Opening which will be held at the beginning of National Palliative Care Week. Following that, we will have two Open Days in the last weekend of May to give the community an opportunity to come have a look at our wonderful facility.
It’s a very exciting time at Fitzroy Community Hospice as we steadily work towards being able to admit patients in June.
Supporter Circle
We’d like to give special recognition to our six current Supporter Circle members who have been our early adopters, committing to support Fitzroy Community Hospice on an annual basis:
CQ Well Women
CQ Hand + Upper Limb
Stanwell
South Geldard Lawyers
Joanne Bell
Des & Marilyn Covey
The annual Supporter Circle contribution is $1,500 which is tax deductible, exempt from GST, and every dollar helps us provide free palliative care and bereavement support services within our community.

While it’s empty at the moment, the hospice already has such a calming, peaceful atmosphere with lots of natural light, and the amazing western aspect is truly captivating.
It gives us so much joy to be able to share how far we’ve come in creating an incredibly special space that will make such a difference to our community for many, many years to come.
