Queensland Hospice Tour
In early March, five members of the Fitzroy Community Hospice board embarked on a 4-day tour of Queensland Hospices. We visited Little Haven (Gympie), Toowoomba Hospice, Ipswich Hospice, Hummingbird House (Children’s Hospice, Brisbane), Cittamani Hospice (Sunshine Coast), Katie Rose Cottage (Sunshine Coast) and Fraser Coast Hospice (in development). “The passion & commitment of each team to excellent hospice care was evident and inspiring. Invaluable insights and information were gained which has equipped and emboldened us as we embark on the next steps.” Dr Vicki Richmond.
Development Application Submitted
On March 23, 2021 Fitzroy Community Hospice submitted a development application to the Rockhampton Regional Council. The purpose of this application is to gain the consent needed to redevelop and repurpose 38 Agnes St, The Range, Rockhampton for use as a hospice. This process is expected to take at least 3 months.
Charitable Status Granted
On March 30, 2021 Fitzroy Community Hospice received word that its application to the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission for charitable status had been approved. We now await approval from the Queensland Office of Fair Trading, after which, fundraising can commence.
