Hospice Operations

Since opening in June this year, over 80 patients and their families have experienced the peaceful, dignified care that Fitzroy Community Hospice provides. In 2025 we will extend this care by opening our second stage of development; our 12th patient room and an adjoining two bedroom unit. Construction has already begun and we are very much looking forward to having additional on-site accommodation options to offer our patients’ relatives. Watch this space and follow us on Facebook for photos once the work is complete.

We have been holding regular memorial evenings to celebrate the lives of patients who have left us. These evenings provide a warm, reflective space for family and friends to remember their loved ones. We are honoured to be able to provide this bereavement support service for the growing community of people who’s lives we have touched.

It has been a truly remarkable year and we are so proud of what we have achieved together as a community.

Fundraising Wrap-up

We have been truly blessed to receive so much support from our generous CQ community this year. Without this support, Fitzroy Community Hospice would not exist and could not continue to operate so a HUGE THANK YOU to everyone who has donated.

In September, we held our 3rd Annual Charity Golf Day, sponsored by Cooper McCullough. It was a magnificent day raising just shy of $30,000! This event will return in September 2025, keep your eyes peeled for the official date announcement.

The 2024 Rockhampton & Capricorn Coast Best in Business Awards were held last Friday night in Yeppoon and we were thrilled to be chosen as a charity partner. Our Board Chair Korin Petersen gratefully accepted a $6,000 donation on the night, thank you to Capricorn Enterprise and Capricornia Chamber of Commerce for supporting us.

A special mention to our 10 Supporter Circle members who joined us this year. Thank you for being our early adopters! We hope to significantly increase membership numbers for this special club in 2025. To find out more please visit our website.
