Fitzroy Community Hospice raised more than $37,000 at its 4th Annual Charity Golf Day last Friday 5 September 2025, making it the Hospice’s most successful golf day yet.
Fitzroy Community Hospice CEO Mrs Beth Thomas said the Annual Charity Golf Day was a huge success with 96 golfers teeing off at the Rockhampton Golf Course in support of the facility.
“Our Annual Charity Golf Day is one of Fitzroy Community Hospice’s key fundraising activities and we’re so grateful and proud of the community for its support this year,” Mrs Thomas said.
“As an independent not-for-profit health facility, we rely on the support of our community so we can continue providing dedicated palliative care and bereavement services to Central Queenslanders living with a terminal illness, and their families.
“The money raised from our Annual Charity Golf Day helps cover day-to-day operational costs including procurement of clinical supplies, building and equipment maintenance, and wages.
“Everyone in Central Queensland, and their loved ones, deserves dedicated end-of-life care that’s delivered with the upmost empathy and respect. It is our privilege to be able to provide such care thanks to the generous support of our community, through fundraising events like our Annual Golf Day.
“The day wouldn’t have been as successful without our generous event sponsors, hole sponsors, players, and every person who purchased a ball in our Golf Ball Drop – a highlight of the day which raised $4,200 alone. Thank you to all of you!”
