Hospice plans finalised with architect

The Facility Build Committee have been busily working with Tony Madden Architects to finalise building plans and artistic renditions.

The state-of-the-art palliative care facility will be established in Agnes Street, Rockhampton as a purpose built 12 bed hospice. It will operate as a licenced health facility, and exacting quality and safety standards will apply to the built environment.

Inaugural Charity Golf Day

Smyth Financial Charity Golf Day was held on Friday 2 September, and was a great success. In addition to being a wonderful day on the green, this inaugural event raised approximately $15,500 of vital funds towards building CQ’s first hospice. There was great feedback received from players and sponsors throughout the day, with many indicating they will return next year.

Be sure to set yourself a date claimer for next year! The FCH Charity Golf Day is scheduled for the first Friday in September 2023. Thank you to all the teams, sponsors, prize donors, volunteers and Rockhampton Golf Club Inc. for your kind support.

Garden Party

It was an afternoon of good food, good company and good weather for a Garden Party that was kindly hosted by Steve and Debbie Richards on Saturday 10 September. The event raised $20,000 in funds for FCH, and included a fashion parade from Willow and Ivy, several multi-draw raffles and a money board.  There was also a lively auction including a highly prized Shelley Tea Set, a quality coffee machine, and an original painting from a local artist.

During the event, the Inner Wheel Club of Rockhampton presented a cheque for an additional $2,000 they had raised via their fundraising efforts. (As pictured above). A delicious selection of food was served by the students from Rockhampton Grammar School and The Cathedral College. This wonderful annual event continues to grow in popularity. Now in its fourth year, the event was attended by approximately 260 people (up from around 200 last year).

A major thanks to Stage & Audio Event Solutions, and to CQ Party Hire for their generous donation of equipment. We also extend our thanks to all the volunteers.
