Construction Progress

Building works for the hospice facility at 38 Agnes Street, Rockhampton continue to progress well. Despite some delays due to weather and subcontractor availability, the construction remains on track for completion in late 2023. All retaining walls, the new lower ground floor slabs and block work is finished, with work to begin shortly on the second storey. The renovation of existing buildings continues to progress well, with the framing finished and rough-in nearly completed.

Pictured below are Fitzroy Community Hospice Board Members Steve Richards, Debbie Richards, Allison Leech and Korin Jensen welcoming Rockhampton Regional Council Mayor Tony Williams and Councillors Shane Latcham, Grant Mathers, Ellen Smith and Donna Kirkland on site last week. It was an exciting visit, with the ability to walk on the new lower ground floor and really visualise how the Family Room will eventually come to life.

Welcome to our new Founding Partners

In the last three months, Fitzroy Community Hospice has welcomed six new Founding Partners – Iwasaki Foundation, Milne Brothers, Kathy Cargill, South Geldard Lawyers, Frenchville Sports Club and Sorrell Hills Cattle & Grain.

A huge thank you to these businesses and individuals who have recognised the vital importance of this legacy project by gifting such a substantial financial contribution.

Hoist Ya Boss For Hospice Success

Our inaugural Hoist Ya Boss For Hospice fundraising event was held on Friday 12 May and it was an enormous success, raising over $60,000!

A huge THANK YOU again to our event sponsors, the 10 fabulous and fearless bosses who were hoisted, and all of the 400+ Central Queenslanders who donated to support the establishment of Fitzroy Community Hospice.

May Community Events

In May we held two separate events: a Corporate Lunch and a Community Breakfast. A total of over 200 hospice supporters attended these events to learn more about the establishment of Fitzroy Community Hospice and the ways they can support this special and much needed service.

National Palliative Care Week also saw our team host a free Advanced Care Planning workshop and we supported the local Rockhampton showing of the documentary film “Live the Life You Please”.
